Borrowed Bike

Following on from Monday’s explosive wheel incident, I am now without my bike!

I dropped by my local bike shop after work on Monday to get the damage assessed, and basically I need to get the back wheel rebuilt. I’ll need a new rim and spokes, and possibly a new tire as well.  It’s not going to be cheap, and it also means that I’ll be without my bike for about a week.

louisesbikeIn the mean time my fiancée has very generously let me borrow her pink/purple step-through bike. It’s a little small for me, a bit too girly for my tastes, but it gets me from A to B – and means that I don’t have to catch the bus or walk to work.

And in the medium term, I’m thinking that I might invest in getting myself a second bike. I’ve been lusting after a few different ‘Dutch’ style bikes for a good while now, and now seems a good time to justify the spend.

It’ll help to have 2 bikes, for when one of them needs to be repaired, or for when I fancy a change of style or pace.
