Great Dublin Bike Ride

The inaugural Great Dublin Bike Ride takes place on Sunday 13th September 2015 at 8.00am. The ride has both 60km and 100km routes that both start and end in Smithfield.

I’m not taking part in the ride myself, but I am volunteering on the day. Along with all the other volunteers, race marshals from Cycling Ireland, Gardai, and security people there will be a cast of thousands (okay, maybe hundreds) working to help the ride take place safely and successfully.

Another Flat Tyre

It’s hard to describe the exact feeling, but once you’ve experienced it a few times you learn to recognise it. The handling of the bike starts to feel a bit weird – a bit unstable – as if the wheels are sliding a bit to each side.

It’s the feeling of a flat tyre – and of the consequential loss of grip on the road.

Bike Friendly Cafés

There’s nothing better than taking a bike ride along to a nice café – especially when the energy you burnt off getting there makes it guilt-free too!
