Commute time war stories

Dressing for the ride

I’m not really a fan of cycling-specific clothing. It just seems rather unnecessary, and a bit of a faff to get changed at work, when my commute is only 6km. I generally dress for the destination, not the ride.

Bike tyres are so much easier to fix

I was enjoying a lazy Saturday morning at home when the text message appeared on my phone: Car has puncture

My wife had taken the car out to do some grocery shopping, and as she was driving out of the supermarket car park she realised the car had a flat. She had pulled over to the side of the road, but wasn’t entirely sure what to do next.

Flat Tyre

First thing on a morning, when you’re in a rush to get to work, is not the ideal time to discover you’ve got a flat tyre! I’m not sure how my back tyre got a puncture, but it was flat as a pancake this morning. I must have got a slow puncture on my way home last night, which seems like a feasible guess as the Dublin roads were wet and covered in debris from the recent high winds we’ve had.

Blocks of Ice

I don’t know about you, but my feet felt like blocks of ice after my commute this morning.
